Islam - one of the world's religions, whose origins are from ancient times, and the number of followers has hundreds of millions of people worldwide. The history of Russia as a country firmly linked with the history of the Muslim peoples.
With almost all the civilizations of Northern Eurasia disappeared over time (leaving the living cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia today), preserved only two - Russian and Islamic. Both are involved in the integration and structuralization of the cultural and historical area of northern Eurasia.
Today, the Russian Muslims live in almost all the subjects of the Federation. The peculiarity of Russian Islam, until recently, it was a low degree of politicization, tolerance, allowing the Muslim peoples to live peacefully and to work with representatives of other faiths. Islam like any other religion coexists and interacts with other religions and cultures, giving them influence and enduring own evolution.

Collective monograph provides insight into the diversity of the Islamic world on the basis of civilized approach - so praised his co-editor of the publication, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Institute of Asian and African Studies of Moscow State University. MV University Mikhail Meyer. According to him, it is a "good gift" not only for Muslims but for all who are professionally or amateur interest in Islam, this book gets you closer to the answer to an urgent question about the reasons for "sustained success of Islam in the modern world, where Christianity, Buddhism and other religions can not boast of increasing the number of its adherents. " According to the scientist, the matter is not in the "youth" of the Muslim religion, as is commonly believed. "Essays on the history of Islamic civilization" say it in mind that Islam - a religion that "surprisingly is able to synthesize the local tradition," which translates into "civilizational multiplicity of life of the Islamic world."
The initiator of the publication, the project manager and executive editor Yuri Kobischanov - doctor of historical sciences, senior researcher at the Institute for African Studies told about the concept of civilized approach and the main sections of the 2-volume publication: it is a systematic description of the sociological culture of the Islamic world, from the Bedouin, peasants and seafarers to criminal youth subcultures; it is a comprehensive study of Islamic trade and the development of political and legal thought of Islamic civilization, and the development of the humanities, arts and architecture, and even the history of the first Euro-Islamic community, and more. For example, it was mentioned that only Russian Islam is represented by three civilizational branches: Turkic-Hanafi (Tatar-Turkish), Northeast Caucasian and Northwest Caucasian (this new trend exists among the Circassians and Abkhazians from the XIX century.) . The book is devoted to the history of medieval Islamic civilization, chronologically limited study of the XVI century.
Most of the work on creation of monographs did scientists Russian institutes: the Institute of African Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies, IAAS Moscow State University, and the Institute of Ismaili Studies in London. The specialists were attracted sources in many languages, in addition to Arabic and Farsi. All photos of monuments in the book - the author. However, the group of authors did not consider the work completely finished: in the publication is not included sections on science in the Islamic world, as well as extensive in terms of the section on religious philosophy.
15 years, 30 highly skilled artists from 6 countries and 1000 copies. According to the CEO of the publishing house "Russian Political Encyclopedia" (ROSSPEN) Andrey Sorokin, the small circulation is considered to be a pilot. The plans of publishing - not just a reprint edition, and excretion of a higher level of an illustrative block "Essays."
